You have your desk, your keyboard, your monitor, your mouse and your Chair. But can you say your desk was built specifically for you?
Spending hours on a bad chair in different poor sitting positions can lead to a lot of complications. Well, Stick around so we can show you how to set up your workspace to avoid complications and pain for life.
Adjust your chair
The average desk height is 73.66cm to 76.2cm tall. To sit comfortably without slouching or bending you have to adjust your chair to the desk height. When you do this right you would notice that your elbow will be at a 90° angle to the desk.
Your legs on the ground
If you notice that after adjusting your chair your feet are not able to touch the ground, you should use a footstool. If you don't have a stool you can use a thick wad of papers.
Adjust Your Monitor
Your monitor should be close to you by an arm's length so you can read what is on the screen easily without the need to bend or strain your eyes. So place the monitor in such a way that the screen of the monitor is on your eye-level. If your monitor is not designed with adjustable levers you can make do with a thick wad of paper. If your schedule means you would be using two monitors here is what you should do. You should line up the two monitors side by side so you are in the middle of the two monitors. When you are bending over to use your computer for long periods your arm muscles begin to compress. So be careful not to lean or slouch on your desk. As you do that, work to adjust your monitor lighting if you can.
Be mindful of your Keyboard and Mouse
When you place your hands on the table, you should be able to use your keyboard easily. Your mouse should be placed near your keyboard. You should do this so you don't strain your back every time. This will help you avoid strain and pain from overusing your shoulder. The major goal is that you shouldn't stretch to reach for your tools.
Adjust Your Phone Position
What hand do you use to write? Is it your left hand or your right hand? Place your phone on your non-writing side. So you won't instinctively hold it against your neck every time. Staying in this kind of position whenever you are on the phone can cause a lot of strain on your neck. You could get yourself a wireless headset so you won't have to suffer your neck all the time.
